If you are thinking of eloping, Lake Tahoe is the place to go! With so many gorgeous locations to choose from, you really can’t go wrong. When planning your Lake Tahoe elopement, there are a few things to consider.

First up is your marriage license! Lake Tahoe is in between Nevada and California, so where you file for a marriage license will be dependent on which side of the lake you decide to celebrate your elopement.

Along with your marriage license, you’ll need an officiant and a witness. Some couples love the idea of eloping privately. If this is the case your photographer can act as your witness! If you choose to share this special day with a few of your closest friends or family, they can also be there to witness you and your partner exchanging your vows and starting your new adventure together.

Next up is the location. Whether you want to be on the beach, in the forest, or somewhere in between, Lake Tahoe will deliver the perfect spot for your wedding day. If you’re looking for laid-back and serene views, North Lake is the place for you! South lake is perfect if you’re looking for more activities and nightlife, while still having stunning views of Tahoe. To give you some ideas, here are some of our favorite spots:

Emerald Bay

One of the most popular elopement locations in Tahoe is Emerald Bay, State Park. This gorgeous spot in South Lake Tahoe has an epic view of the lake, mountains, and trees (the whole package!) that would make the perfect background for all of your photos. The lookout also gives you a view of Fannette Island in the bay. This park can be accessed through the Vikingsholm parking lot, but please keep in mind that this spot can get busy during peak season.

Tahoe Paradise Park

Tahoe Paradise Park is another great option for your intimate ceremony. At this tranquil South Lake venue, you can say “I do” in the redwood gazebo or under the enchanting 1,000-year-old juniper tree. You’ll feel peaceful and ready to marry your best friend, being surrounded by views of the mountains and the beautiful Lake Barron. They even offer elopement packages! This will ensure that even during the busiest time of the year, your ceremony is private and stress-free.

Regan Beach

If you want to get married right on the beach, Regan Beach is the location for you! You can rent this location out for your small ceremony and have some of the special people in your lives there to share this momentous occasion with, including your furry friends since part of this beach is dog-friendly. Reagan beach is the perfect secluded location while also being close to dining and shopping.

Logan Shoals

Logan Shoals is on the east side of Lake Tahoe and is the perfect place to elope at sunset. When the sun starts to set behind the mountains, the glowing colors will reflect on the lake and make the most beautiful backdrop for your wedding. You can overlook the lake as you say your vows and start your life with your partner. You’ll feel on top of the world at this location!

Sand Harbor

Located on the North shore of Lake Tahoe, Sand Harbor flaunts gorgeous views of the crystal- clear water. You can get married right on the beach and spend your wedding day right by the water. If you’re the adventurous type, you can hop on your paddleboard, snorkel, or take a dip in the lake. This popular spot can get busy during the summer months, so if you’re looking to elope during the off-season, this is a great location for you.

Lake Tahoe boasts gorgeous scenery all year long, with snow-capped mountains during the winter, trees changing color in the fall, and perfect beaches in the summer. But no matter what, you know the water is going to be shockingly blue and beautiful all year round, making Lake Tahoe the perfect destination for your elopement.

And of course, you will want a photographer to capture all of the incredible details and amazing memories from your wedding day. You want to make sure you choose a photographer who you trust, makes you feel comfortable in front of the camera, and adds to the fun of your special day.
